Portions Privacy Policy

Introduction

Moonlighter Apps LLC ('we,' 'us,' or 'our'), the developer of Portions, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our mobile application (the 'App'). By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal and usage data:

• Personal Information: When creating an account, we collect your name and email address. This data is required for authentication and account management.
• Health-Related Data: You may enter dietary goals, calorie intake, macronutrient preferences, and meal tracking information. This data is private and is not shared with third parties at this time.
• Operational Service Data: To operate the App, Firebase records read/write operations and function calls, and Algolia processes the search queries you submit so the App can return results. These are operational records the App needs to work — not behavioral analytics, and we do not use them to profile users.
• Authentication Data: Our App uses Google Firebase for authentication.
• AI Recipe Generation Data: If you use the AI recipe generation feature, your prompts and preferences are sent to OpenAI for processing and are also kept in our own analytics logs so we can improve the feature. We do not share these prompts with third parties beyond OpenAI. OpenAI separately retains API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring under their standard API policy.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the App's functionality.
• Maintain user accounts and store personal meal planning data.
• Enable search functionality through Algolia.
• Ensure security and integrity of the App.

Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We use certain third-party service providers to help us operate our app and provide its functionality:

Google: We use Google services (including Firebase and Google Authentication) to securely authenticate users, store and process your account information, meal plans, and other app data. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and handles this information according to their privacy policy.

Algolia: We share your custom foods and recipes with Algolia to enable the search functionality within the app. This allows you to quickly find your saved content.

OpenAI: When you use the AI recipe generation feature, your recipe prompts are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI processes this data according to their API data usage policy. We do not send personally identifiable information to OpenAI.

RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription billing and entitlements. RevenueCat processes your subscription status and purchase history according to their privacy policy. We do not share your personal meal planning data with RevenueCat.

Instacart: If you choose to export your grocery list to Instacart, the items on your grocery list will be shared with Instacart to facilitate your order. This integration is entirely optional and user-initiated.

Beyond these essential service providers, we do not currently share your personal data with other third parties. In the future, we may enable voluntary data sharing with additional third-party health or grocery delivery apps. Users will always have full control over enabling or disabling such integrations.

Data Storage and Security

User data is stored securely using Google Firebase. Firebase provides built-in security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Your data is stored until you choose to delete your account.

User Rights and Choices

• You can modify or delete your meal plans, custom foods, custom recipes, and profile data at any time.
• You can delete your account, which will permanently remove all associated data.
• As we do not currently collect analytics or display targeted ads, there is no data collection opt-out necessary at this time.

Children's Privacy

This App is intended for individuals who plan and prepare their own meals, generally targeting users in their late teens or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If we become aware of such data, we will promptly delete it.

Legal Compliance

We comply with applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for users residing in California.

Under CCPA, users have the right to:

• Request access to their collected personal data.
• Request deletion of their data.
• Opt out of the sale of their data (although we do not sell data).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. Users will be notified of significant changes via in-app notifications or email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
